Phantasmagoria Events are a historical
drama company with a strong track record
in working with local authorities,
historic sites and houses and historical
public engagement. Each of our
performances are specifically written
and devised for individual locations or
communities, and we are committed to
creating interactive promenade
performances for non-theatre locations.
Laden with factual historical stories,
and with an essence of horrid histories,
our productions aim to engage the public
with local heritage and historical
locations through innovative and
engaging community theatre events.
The company was founded in 2007 by Ian
John Shillito and originally called
Ghost Hunting with London Paranormal. It
was inspired by his recent ghost hunter
role in Series 8 of the hugely
successful TV programme, Most Haunted,
his 20 year career in the theatre
industry, and his fascination with
social history and community values

Monks Mysteries and Miracles
@ St Bartholomew the Great:
was first performed
in 2009 as part of the London Ghost Festival, it has since been revived
for corporate and public events in 2010. Upon entering the ancient
church one is immediately transported back into time with an
ecclesiastical assault on the senses, In the faint glow of candlelight
you walked in the footsteps of Rahere, founder and resident
ghost who
enthralled the public with tales of bone houses, executions, phantoms
and missing relics. Even the resident verger joined in the
theatricality as he recalled the churches 900 year history. Ironically,
the original church was used for theatre and community performances in
the medieval period; therefore we were delighted to bring it back in our
own ‘spooky’ style.
“Thanks so much for a
great evening tour by candlelight. From the start it was magical, the
smells from the incense, being led into the church, the whole atmosphere
was amazing. The little personal touches and the way you incorporated
the audience was brilliant. It was captivating and really brought the
whole experience to life”
“Thank you for the wonderful event at
St Bartholomew the Great. It was both fun and scary can’t wait for the
next one”
“Everybody had a great time. The venue
was stunning and your colleagues provided exactly the right balance
between humour and information. Thanks of all the participants for a
very enjoyable and informative evening”

The
House of Lost Souls:
The House of Lost Souls
was a specifically devised ghostly
performance at Charlton House in London.
Performed over Halloween
weekend
2010, the performance captivated and
spooked the public as they wandered
around the house interacting with a cast
of 14 actors. The cast, who were chosen
from a ‘Ghost Idol’ audition process
portrayed many events, characters and
ghosts in the houses eclectic history.
The house was atmospherically lit with
over 100 candles and ingenious
projections, in rooms which echoed with
period music and sound effects, as
costumed actors recalled their
characters demise’s in full gory detail.
